How we handle your information.

The short version

• We collect your email address, your first name if you give it, and your answers to the Stay or Move Report questions.
• If you ask for an Independence Plan, John Fick, Oupa's founder, reads your answers to write it. Software, including AI, may help prepare a draft of your plan; John reviews, edits and signs off every one.
• One of the 22 questions asks about memory and thinking. We treat that answer as sensitive and use it only to prepare your report and your plan.
• We never sell your information. We never share it for anyone's marketing. We take no payment from anyone we name in a plan.
• You can ask us to delete everything we hold about you, at any time, by emailing hello@oupahome.com.

Introduction

Oupa LLC ("Oupa", "we", "us", or "our") operates the website oupahome.com and the Stay or Move Report. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have.

Geographic scope

Oupahome.com is intended for residents of the United States. It is not currently directed at people outside the United States, including in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or Canada, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you use it from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States.

We will update this policy before we begin serving people in other countries.

Who we are

Oupa LLC is a Wyoming limited liability company with its primary operating address in San Francisco, California. We provide a free Stay or Move Report and a written Independence Plan to help people preserve their independence as they get older.

Information we collect

When you complete the Stay or Move Report

• Your email address. Required, so we can send your report.
• Your first name. Optional, used to greet you in your report.
• Your answers to the 22 questions. Used to prepare your report. One question asks whether you have noticed changes in memory or thinking. See "Your answer about memory and thinking" below.
• Your report, which is produced from your answers.

Your answers and report are also saved in your web browser, on the device you used, so that you can see your report again. They stay there until you clear your browser's data for oupahome.com or start a new report. If you use a shared computer, anyone who uses the same browser may be able to see your report.

When you ask for or buy an Independence Plan

• Further answers you give us to prepare your plan. These include your zip code, the type of home, a budget range for any changes, and anything you tell us in your own words.
• Payment details. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Stripe tells us your name, email address, the amount paid, and whether the payment succeeded.

Automatically, when you visit the site

We use Plausible Analytics to understand how the site is used overall. It records pages visited, time on each page, country and region (not precise location), device type, browser, and the website that referred you. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect information that identifies you, and does not follow you across other websites.

The companies that host and deliver the site process technical information such as your IP address in order to show you the page. They do not use it to identify you for us.

What we do not collect

• We do not see or store card numbers.
• We do not collect precise location.
• We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
• We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

How we use your information

To prepare your report

Your report is produced from your answers by fixed rules written by Oupa. It is not written by artificial intelligence. It is shown to you on screen and sent to the email address you gave.

To let us know your report is ready

When you finish the Stay or Move Report, an internal email with your answers and your report is sent to Oupa's own inbox, hello@oupahome.com. It lets us prepare your Independence Plan if you ask for one. It is not sent to anyone outside Oupa.

To write your Independence Plan

If you ask for or buy an Independence Plan, a named person at Oupa reads your Stay or Move Report answers and your further answers in order to write it. We may use software tools, including artificial intelligence tools, to help prepare a draft. When we do, a named person reviews, edits, and signs every plan before it is sent. We use only providers that are not allowed to use your information to train their systems.

To email you about your report and your plan

We'll email you your report. We may occasionally email you about your report, your plan, or Oupa; every email has an unsubscribe link.

To improve the Stay or Move Report

We look at combined, anonymized results, for example how many people found a particular area limited, to improve the questions and the report. No individual can be identified in this work.

To reply to you

If you contact us, we use your information to answer you. We do not add you to any mailing list because you wrote to us.

What we never do

• Sell your information.
• Share it with anyone for their marketing.
• Use your answers to recommend products or services for anyone's commercial benefit.
• Take a fee, commission, or payment from any professional, company, or senior care facility we name in a plan.

Your answer about memory and thinking

One of the 22 questions asks whether you have noticed changes in memory or thinking, and whether a doctor knows about them. We understand that this is sensitive, and some laws treat it as health information.

• We use it only to prepare your report and, if you ask for one, your Independence Plan.
• Only the person writing your plan reads it.
• We never share it with any professional named in your plan, or with anyone else, except the service providers listed below that store and send information on our behalf.
• Oupa is not a medical provider, and your answer is not a diagnosis or medical record.
• You can ask us to delete this answer, or everything we hold about you, at any time.

How we share your information

We share information only in these circumstances.

Professionals named in your plan

Your plan may name professionals near you who could help. We do not send them your information. If you choose to contact them, you decide what to tell them. They pay Oupa nothing.

Service providers

These companies help us run oupahome.com. Each receives only what it needs to do its job, and none is allowed to use your information for its own purposes.

When the law requires it

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or a government authority, or where we believe it is necessary to protect the safety or rights of our users, Oupa, or others.

If Oupa changes hands

If Oupa is part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of it. We will tell you by email and on this website before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

How long we keep it

We keep your answers, report, and plan records while they may still be useful to you, for example to compare with a future report. We delete them three years after your last activity with Oupa. We may keep combined, anonymized results that cannot identify you.

You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time by emailing hello@oupahome.com. We will delete it within 30 days, including the internal report email in our inbox, unless the law requires us to keep something, such as payment records.

Your rights

California law gives California residents specific rights over their personal information. We give the same rights to everyone who uses Oupa, wherever they live in the United States.

• To know what personal information we hold about you and how we use it.
• To correct information that is wrong.
• To delete your personal information.
• To opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of.
• To limit the use of sensitive information. We use your answer about memory and thinking only to provide the report and plan you asked for.
• Not to be treated differently for using any of these rights.

To use any of them, email hello@oupahome.com with the subject line "Privacy request". We will respond within 45 days, and usually much sooner.

Cookies and browser storage

• The Stay or Move Report saves your answers and report in your browser's local storage so your report can be shown to you. This is not a tracking cookie, and it is not sent to anyone. It stays until you clear your browser's data for oupahome.com.
• We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
• Plausible Analytics does not use cookies.
• If you buy a plan, Stripe's payment page may set its own cookies to process the payment and prevent fraud. Stripe's privacy policy covers those.

Children

Oupahome.com is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe we have, email hello@oupahome.com and we will delete it.

Security

We protect your information with encrypted connections (HTTPS) on every page, secure database storage with access rules, and access limited to the people at Oupa who need it. Only the person writing your plan reads your answers.

No system is completely secure. We take reasonable precautions but cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a breach that affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.

Changes to this policy

When we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page and email you if we have your address. Using oupahome.com after a change means you accept the updated policy.
